The seal of Atlantis is the map of the mythical capital of the Continent of Atlantis, Poseidonia or City of the Bridge, as concordantly described in many documents in a succession of three canals and three rings of dry land and an exit-port that lead to the open sea.

The cross’ design is based on Plato’s description of the layout of the streets of Basileia, the supposed Atlantean Capitol city, in Timaeus and Criteas.

The crossed circle that forms a main feature of this symbol represents the four elements and the four directions.
